Place:

Sonoma State University (about 65 miles north of San Francisco International Airport)
(Maps and Directions to Sonoma State University)

Purpose:

Introduce beginners to Naginata, provide advanced training for participants, and teaching and referee training for instructors

Requirements:

Instructors Training: Open to those who have Sandan and up.
Annual Seminar: Open to the public
Examination: USNF members
Tournament: USNF members, ages 18 and up.
Tryouts: USNF members, ages 18 and up.

Contents:

Outline history of naginata.
Naginata basics: happoburi, datotsu, shikakeoji.
Zen Nihon Naginata Kata, basic technique with bo-gu, kakari-geiko, shiaigeiko, tournament management, referee training.

Examinations:

Kyu and Dan testing up to Sandan will be held on Sunday, July 9th

Note that applications are being coordinated and combined by the regional federations of the USNF. Applications from individuals are only appropriate for those who are not members of a regional federation.
