Purpose:

To train participants in the proper execution of Naginata techniques and to train referees in recognizing proper technique and timing while refereeing matches. Practical training in refereeing tournament matches.

Requirements:

General Seminar (Aug 13-14): All levels. Beginners welcome.
Referee Seminar (Aug 14): Sandan and up.
Examination: USNF members, or by permission
Tournament: USNF members, ages 14 and up.

Contents:

The seminar will consist of training in Naginata basics, engi, zen nihon kata and shiai. For the referee seminar, correct referee comportment, flag usage and so on will also be covered. A portion of the training will consist of practice matches performed by both seminar participants and volunteer senshu with seminar participants acting as referees.

Examinations:

Kyu and Dan testing up to Sandan will be held on Sunday, August 16th

Fees:

Seminar: Two days: $150.00; one day: $100.00.
Full-time student fees are 50% of the regular fee.
Tournament fees are detailed in the application form.

Accomodations:

12-16 Aug 2009. MHC Dormitory. Single or double room.
Single rate: $61.25/day. Double rate: $53.25/day. Rate includes meals and taxes.
Two night minimum stay.
Free wireless internet access available. Vegetarian meals available. Participants with food allergies or any additional dietary special needs, please let the USNF Office know at least 10 days prior to the event so that we may inform MHC.

Early staff arrival 11 August. No meals; room rate $35.00.

Note that applications are being coordinated and combined by the regional federations of the USNF. Applications from individuals are only appropriate for those who are not members of a regional federation.
